Still, I just had to do my full playthrough of THIS game in the intended way – with a rumbling controller in my hands and on a tiny TV screen in the corner of a quiet gloomy room. Yes, the limited early game screenshots in this review were taken from a later partial playthrough with a better emulator called “PCSX2” (which requires a functioning PS2 and some technical knowledge to set up) and may not fully reflect the quality of playing this game on the original hardware. After clearing some space to set it up properly, there was ONE game that I had to re-play on it…. I don’t know how this happened and I don’t care. But it never did… Then, whilst messing around with a glitchy and unstable “No BIOS needed!” PS2 emulator called “Play!”, I turned my old PS2 on with the hope of extracting the disc from it and was astonished to find that – somehow – the console was actually working properly again.

I’d check the website every day, hoping that the second game would appear there too. I’d given up hope of ever playing it again until the PC port of “Silent Hill 4” (2004) got a re-release on GOG last year.

I’ve finally got round to re-playing the Director’s Cut edition of “Silent Hill 2” (2001) This was a game that I first played sometime during my teenage years in the early-mid 2000s and it absolutely terrified me back then.
